Countable Nouns
Countable nouns are objects, people, or places that we can count one by one using numbers (1, 2, 3...). They have both singular and plural forms.
Interactive Examples (Click to inspect!):
Apple
Singular: one apple | Plural: three apples
Key Rules for Countable Nouns:
- Use a or an for singular countable nouns (e.g., a book, an egg, an umbrella).
- Use plural forms for more than one (add -s or -es, e.g., books, eggs, boxes).
- Use many, a few, or few with plural countable nouns.
Example Sentences:
• I have an apple for snack.
• There are five books on the table.
• She has many pencils in her pencil case.
• We have a few eggs left in the fridge.

Uncountable Nouns & Containers
Uncountable nouns are substances, liquids, powders, or abstract concepts that we cannot count one by one directly (e.g., water, rice, money, information). They do not take plural forms like waters or rices.
Common Uncountable Examples:

Liquid
Milk / Tea
Liquid
Rice / Sugar
Grains / Powders
Bread
Material
Money
Abstract / Mass
Incorrect Usage
• "I need a water." (Direct article 'a' is incorrect)
• "Give me two rices." (No plural '-s')
Correct Usage
• "I need some water." (Using 'some')
• "I need a glass of water." (Using container)
Measure Words and Containers
To count or measure uncountable nouns, we use units, containers, or portions:
